In Loving Memory of

Elias Grandison

21 September 1946 – 10 November 2024

Mr. Elias George Grandison, known affectionately to many as Lias or Talas, a man whose life journey began on the 21st of September, 1946, and came to a peaceful close on the 10th of November, 2024, in the heart of Queens, New York. He was a beacon of love and generosity, a man who walked in kindness and extended a helping hand to all.

Lias was a family man, a loving father to six children – four daughters and two sons, a caring stepfather to three, and a brother to two sisters and a brother. His legacy further extends to his eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who will carry forward his teachings and love. Each of these individuals was a precious gem in his crown of life, and he cherished every moment spent with his nieces, nephews, and the multitude of relatives and friends that he considered part of his extended family.

A man of the earth, Lias found solace and joy in the simplicity of farming. His hands, though now still, once worked the soil with passion, nurturing the land as he nurtured his family. His love for cooking was a testament to his belief in the power of sharing a meal, a symbol of unity and love, a tradition that his family will hold dear for generations to come. And in the quiet moments, his dedication to the upkeep of his home was evident in his meticulous cleaning, a reflection of the order and care he applied to every aspect of his life.

The words that best encapsulate the essence of Lias are loving, kind, and generous. He was a man who led by example, showing us the way to love without limits, to give without expecting anything in return, and to be kind as a default, not an afterthought. His generosity knew no bounds, and his heart was an ever-open door to those in need.

Let us take comfort in knowing that Lias has now found rest, departing from us due to natural causes, leaving behind a world that is undoubtedly better for his presence. As he takes his place among the heavenly choir, let us hold fast to the memories, the laughter, and the love he left behind. His spirit will continue to guide us, just as the North Star guides the traveler, steadfast and true.

We bid farewell to Lias, not with sorrow but with the joy that comes from knowing he lived a life well-lived. As we commit his earthly remains to the ground, let us do so with the assurance that his soul is now reaping the rewards of a life spent in the service of others. Rest well, dear Lias, until we meet again.
